Prayers and Praises

January has gone by pretty quickly. I am glad for whoever made 31 days for the first month of the year. It gives a little more space. Sofia didn’t go back to school until January 9, so it seemed that Christmas break took up most of the new month, but as long as I stay on top of things and am intentional about getting out of the house EVERY. SINGLE. DAY that my oldest doesn’t go to school, we are pretty much set. I didn’t manage all of the time great…but most of the time.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen Caid really proud of his planning skills at school. He is really getting into creative ways to help his students wholistically in health class, and I think that is awesome. We’ve had some great dates this month (thanks mom!), and have realized that we need to change our focus from trying to relax and destress to trying to enjoy and appriciate.

Jessica is finally ready to go to school. And she still has 8 months to wait. Every time she asks, and it is often, it is still 8 months. It is really neat to see her skills grow as she works to

“keep up” with Sofia. She is now sounding out and writing sentences. Unfortunately, she doesn’t understand spaces, and she doesn’t hear all the letters when she sounds them out. She also forgets what the sentence was. So she proudly brings me her strings of letters and says “Read them to me Mommy!” I honestly don’t know what life is going to be like when she starts school as well…that is going to be a big change for us all.

I’ve just been so grateful, over the holiday season, and this month, with time together with those I love. This weekend we ordered a huge milkshake from the Sugar Factory and made it a whole event. It was such a good family time, and my heart is full. We’ve hit a parenting stage where there are issues that come up, but they are old enough to not kill themselves and spend time together without us, without hitting the stage where we are boring and not as cool as their friends. It is pretty great actually.

I’ve really enjoyed experiementing with publishing books and what all I can do with Amazon KDP. We will see how it goes. It is hard to wait 3 weeks to see the printed product! I kind of loose the excitement in the waiting. When it finally comes/is available, it seems like old news. Goodness I’ve gotten used to instant gratification!
