Sun Fun for April and May
Prayers and Praises
Well, as you can see, I need prayer for the time management: it’s been busy, and I ran out of time to put together my summary and think time. But it has been lovely. Spring always reminds me that maybe things aren’t really so horrible and there is still hope. Camping in Spring is like triple the hope, with having my parents and godparents there too! Our Wednesday night Home Bible Study’s have been really lovely and growing and special with God bringing in just the right people. It’s been great to see our leader grow in leading, and getting to know Jessica’s friend from school and her family better. Easter was lovely, and I finished the culture study I was doing, which was really important for my personal growth, and unblocking my flow for the current book I’ve been working on (for two years now). I am still surprised that I have fresh grief over how our country is being run, but I do. And I am still not sure what to do with all the lament.
Sofia was a part of Girls on the Run, and I was her running buddy for the 5k. My workout plan is currently labeled “Be strong enough to do a 5k whenever,” or “Keep up with my girls,” which for this case was both. Sofia broke her record by a minute (to 33 minutes), and I stayed right at my normal: 35 minutes. All of the field trips and awards seem to take up May (that’s why they call it Maycember), but Sofia got the president’s (and the principal’s) award, which was the highest award you can get in 5th grade, and Jessica got student of the month (and straight As), so we are proud. We got to visit the 6th grade academy, which looks lovely, but is totally going to change our whole schedule, with the girls attending two different schools with two different drop off and pick up times. WHEW!
Mother’s Day was so special! I told everyone it was for Mother’s day and Father’s day as we are leaving for Brazil the day after Father’s day and I can only do one thing at a time. April and May were Brazil training months, and I realized a week before training that this year, we had 4 kids going through the training (10 and under), and so I really should have a kids training manual as well. I never realized how much we DIDN’'T encourage families to go, until we have families going, and now realize all the thing we need to add. But the journey has been great—and the adult training is now SO much better too, for what I added for the kids:). Garage sales have been helpful to help me find some special gifts to bring for loved ones in Brazil, and I have three suitcases filled to 50 pounds (Caid wouldn’t let me fill his) with presents…the girls and I will just pack our things in our carry ons and back-packs: we are SO excited for Brazil. But first: a visit to Connecticut with family!
No holding your breath, there will be no June Sunday Funday, as we will be in Brazil until July 17th! All the CT and Brazil stuff will either be the end of July, or August (maybe I’ll just stick the three months together? That’s a lot of organizing).
