Sunday Funday May/June

Well, what happened was…

My phone died. And I lost all my open tabs that I wanted to share in the Interwebs section. Then I spent two weeks waiting while Caid got two dud phones that had to be returned before finally getting his dream phone while I upgraded to his old phone. I got all discombobulated and unorganized (gasp!).

May was the month that we all held on for dear life while we saw the light at the end of the tunnel come closer. Caid put one foot in front of the other and finished teaching the semester, and started his last IUPUI class for his Transition to Teaching certificate. He took the teacher accreditation tests. I single-mommed it as Sofia finished 1st grade and I started training and planning a mission’s trip to Brazil. I officially launched my book baby into the world, and finished a book for World Renewal:

We went camping as a family. We had our friends over for the weekend. Caid went on a men’s retreat. My dad turned 75. We crossed into June with all of the energy of Sofia/Jessica bouncing off the walls as we try to do some kind of schedule and mostly fail miserably. Caid turned in all his summer school plans to the summer school teacher, finishing up the second week of June. Caid had his last class June 21st, with just a couple more papers to turn in.

June has felt like arrival. We kind of limped across the finish line, and the finish line seems to be a burry last lap instead of a nice chord to break, but we will take it—and we are grateful. We are grateful for a bit longer to sleep in the mornings (moving from 5:30am to 7am). We are grateful for evening bike rides and library reading programs. For flexibility in all things except eating because WHEN DID OUR GIRLS BECOME RAVENOUS BEASTS THAT NEED FOOD CONSTANTLY?

We loved VBS, and how we’ve been given 11 laptops, 18 tablets, and 18 phones to take to Brazil. It was beautiful to see the kids raise over $3000 for food baskets for the kids in Brazil, especially with all of flooding that has been happening there. I’ve been working double-time to get my regular social media posts planned for work while I am gone in Brazil, while packing and organizing bags and three ladies who will join me (and then two more flying in from Mexico). Caid is working hard on remembering how to breathe again.

All that said, I squished May and June together, and you don’t really get a lot of content. Maybe by the end of July I’ll have my Brazil trip videos/information organized (haha! Probably August!) and some time there will be this huge dump of all the stuff getting caught up that will serve no purpose but making my heart feel really happy about being at the place I’d like to be. Because in August I am turning 40. So there is that.

Please come. 11am at Newfields (if the weather’s bad) or at The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park if the weather permits. We will bring Macaroons, bagels and smear, and lemonaid. You can bring fresh fruit or veggies or other fun things. Let’s enjoy nature and art together:)

A couple of things that did get done from my list: Podcast: Dealing with Death on the Mission Field, Blog: Gun Reform
