The Point

I see the tipping point

When the general consensus

Has picked up enough steam

For it to be okay to say

That this is not okay

Where the exhausted majority

Looked at the extreme and said

“Nope.

We don’t want this.”

Sometimes it takes

A million martyrs

Before people are ready to care

Enough to point it out

It is hard to swallow the irony

That it took a white man

With a gun

Before we got to this point

Good was not enough:

It had to be perfect

And what is the point?

That maybe…

An investigation needs to be done

That maybe…

Some scapegoats need to be fired

It’s the baby step of a

First step

And I’ll take it

My heart hurts

From the gaslighting

Being told I was ignorant or defiant

For saying SOMETHING needed to be done

SOMETHING was wrong

Before the tipping point was reached

Seeing the crack of light

I rejoice

Please follow the light

Pull back the layers

Consider

Maybe there’s a point
